Kathleen Anne (Domnanovich) Cook

Kathleen Anne (Domnanovich) Cook, 69, of South Bend, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on February 12, 1956, in South Bend, IN. Kathy was lovingly adopted by Rudy and Marge (Mattasits) Domnanovich.

She graduated from St Joseph High School and later from the University of St Francis with her Bachelor of Social Work. She then went on to complete her master’s degree in social work at the University of Louisville. She spent her early career working with adoptions for the Catholic Charities. More recently she spent nearly 20 years working as a counselor at Marian High School where she had a lasting impact on many students’ lives.

On March 28, 1987, she married Thomas Cook. Their 38 years together are a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together they built a warm and loving home.

She was happiest with an oyster in one hand, a baby in the other, and a glass of wine on the table. She was a very competitive board game player, and there are many fond late-night memories of her cheating in Rummikub. Kathy had an uncanny ability to make new friends, whether it was the person next to her in the check out line or one of her many “sisters” as she liked to call them.

She was a loving wife and an outstanding mother who always put her family first.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Tom, their six children: Emily Cook, Clare (Luke) Cook, Tommy (Sarah) Cook, Elizabeth Cook, Katie Cook, and Maggie Cook; stepchildren Mike (Al) Cook and Sara Johnson; two grandsons: Byron and Tommy; her brother Jim (Rosey) Domnanovich; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Marge (Mattasits) Domnanovich.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, from 1-3pm at Hahn Funeral Home 505 W 8th Street Mishawaka, IN 46544. Funeral services will immediately follow.
