South Bend, IN- Kay Johnson, 77, passed away at home on Monday, January 4, 2021. Kay was born on February 28, 1943, in Rochester, IN to the late Clarence “Nick” and Wilma (Zartman) Smith. On November 30, 2017, Kay married Carl Johnson who survives. Also surviving are her children, Karen (Donn) Freiberger, Tammy Jo (Mark) Harvey and Patrick (Tamara) Arceneaux; sister, Paulette (Roger Miller) Smith; her grandchildren, Tera, Justin, Alan, Tory, Erica and Angelina; great-grandchildren, Liam, Landon, Chais, Logan, Kaylynn, Kaden, Mikaelah, Alana, Jaykob and Eli. Kay is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ann, Betty, Jean and Sue; and a grandchild, Brandon.
Kay worked as a waitress at Ponderosa for 28 years. She enjoyed her morning coffee and loved visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Revival Tabernacle Church in Buchanan.
The family will receive friends 2:00 pm-4:00 pm, Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka. Services will follow at 4:00 pm with Pastor Will Deeds officiating.
