Larry Oliver Maggart, 81, of Mishawaka IN passed away in his home on 10/12/24 following a lengthy illness.
Larry was born March 10, 1943, to the late, James C. and Juliet (Chayie) Maggart in Mishawaka, IN. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Darlene Claeys Maggart. He will receive a warm welcome in Heaven from all his friends and family who preceded him to the pearly gates.
Larry graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1961. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Larry was a union electrician for nearly 40 years, most of which were with Scanlon Electric and the local 153 union.
On 2/23/64 Larry married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Claeys. Together they had three children: Greg (Terri) Maggart of Osceola, Kristin ‘KK’ (Jim) McIntire of Granger, and Jenny (Mike) Wilson of Peru, Indiana. He loved all his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. Their times together were when he was happiest.
Larry is also survived by his siblings; Judie Woodka, Mishawaka, Mike (Pat)Maggart, Cherry Hill, NJ, Tom (Nacy) Maggart, Merritt Island, Florida. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol (Gene) Trzybinski, and Lauretta (Bill) Hoose.
Larry was an avid golfer and an active member of club 15 and Bowlers Country Club. He enjoyed playing cards, dinners out and nights with friends.
Larry married Patricia Butler on August 11, 2016, at St Monica’s Catholic Church, where they were members. They enjoyed a 2nd chapter of life, spending time with their neighbors, going on trips, visiting the casino and eating dinners out. Pat brought 3 children to the marriage that adored Larry. Janine (Mike) Marty, Jackie (Eric) Nizamoff, Jeff (Susie) Butler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, on Thursday October 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at St Monica’s Catholic church, 222 W Mishawaka Ave, Mishawaka. A burial will take place later with full military rights. Larry would want those who loved him to raise a toast to him and live your life large as he did.
