Lawrence “Larry” Hupp passed away peacefully on December 11th, 2024, in Mishawaka, IN surrounded by his loved ones. He was a simple man who loved his birdie (his wife Gale), his 1974 Pontiac LeMans GT, his Minnesota Vikings, his dog Norah, and his great grand babies Gigi and Lolo, and don’t forget cookies.
Born to John and Mary Alice Gaik on August 15th, 1949, in South Bend, IN. Along with a sister Linda (Johnson) and brother Tom Hupp. His father passed away when he was a child, and his mother remarried. His Stepfather, William Hupp adopted him around age 9 and William and his mother had his sister Deborah Mathis (Tim). He’s preceded in death by his mother, his father, his stepfather and his sister Linda.
Larry met the love of his life Gale in 1965 when he was 16. They were married on October 5th,1968 and had their one and only daughter Amy Suzanne Hupp the year after.
Amy would go on to have 2 daughters, the first being Sarah Christen Hupp whom Larry and Gale helped raise as their own. Although Larry was Sarah’s “Papa” he took on the father role without any hesitation. That is just a glimpse into his character as a man. The 2nd granddaughter, Brooklyn Faith Hupp was born 20 years after Sarah, and she considered him her father as well. He was truly a great man. Sarah would go on to have two children of her own, Giovanna Capri Lane, and Lorenzo Charles Lane of whom he adored and thought the world of. Giovanna will miss having tea parties with her Papa and Lorenzo will miss tossing the ball with him.
Larry loved to walk his dog Norah in the park, drive his GT on nice, sunny days, watch his Minnesota Vikings, spend time with his great grand babies and enjoy everyday life with his wife Gale. His humor was contagious and his laughter infectious, and he will be deeply missed by his family, his close friends and his AA family.
In respect of Larry’s wishes, there will be no formal service held at this time.
