Margaret Ann (O'Neal) Ankrom

Margaret Ann Ankrom, 73, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away on April 9, 2022, in Indianapolis, IN. Margaret was born to the late James Wilburn and Mae (Parrigin) O’Neal, on July 7, 1948, in Searcy, AR. She married Ralph Ankrom on July 23, 1971, in Mishawaka, IN. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2008. Margaret was also preceded in death by her son, Andrew Ankrom; brothers, Jim O’Neal and Dwayne O’Neal; and sister-in-law, Carol O’Neal.

Margaret is survived by her children, Jim (Cheryl) Ankrom, Michael (Tonya) Ankrom and Amy (Matt) Naikelis; grandchildren, Josie (Gabriel) Gunn, Maggie Ankrom, Jim Ankrom, Emilee (Logan Gilvin) Ankrom, Alison Ankrom, Philip Ankrom, Skilar Ankrom, Sam Naikelis, Gus Naikelis, and Archie Naikelis; siblings, Beverly (Bill) Fredrickson and Kevin (Vickee) O’Neal; sister-in-law, Sue O’Neal as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Margaret worked in the library at the University of Notre Dame for over 25 years as a book preservationist.  She was known for her ability to craft, enjoying scrapbooking and card making. She found her peace listening to southern gospel music about the promise of heaven. Margaret put her faith in Jesus and was looking forward to the day that she would be worshipping at Jesus’ feet.  Above all else Margaret will be remembered for her gentle and giving spirit as well as her never ending generosity. She loved to care for her family through the years and to spend time with them.

A funeral service for Margaret will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, at 1PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with Pastor Mike Cramer officiating. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service. Margaret will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka following the service.
