Margaret Stout Obituary

Mishawaka, IN-Margaret Ann Stout, 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.  Margaret was born in Mount Vernon, IL, on December 11, 1932, to the late Clyde Compton and Blanche Marie (Waud) Hay.  On June 4, 1952, in Biloxi, MS, Margaret married William R. Stout who preceded her in death on March 21, 2021.  Also preceding her in death is a grandson, Charles W Stout-Vanlue; sisters, Martha Reum and Helen Newland; a baby brother, Clyde Compton; and son-in-law, David “Lanny” Sterling.  Surviving Margaret are her daughters, Lea Ann Sterling (Richard Currell) and Susan Kay Stout (Jeff Gonyou); grandchildren, Mariah Smith (Ru), Amelie Sterling (Tyler Wieserman), and Daniel Sterling; great-grandchildren, Melody and Theodore Smith; a sister, Dorothy (Ted) Tate; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was an elementary school teacher for over 26 years for the School City of Mishawaka.  She is a member of the NEA and First United Methodist Church. 

Visitation will be held at noon on Monday at First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka immediately followed by the funeral service at 1:00 with Reverend Joyce Kuhn officiating. Visitation will also be held at the family home Saturday and Sunday from noon until 6:00 p.m. Margaret will be laid to rest next to William in Riverview Cemetery in South Bend.
