Marilyn Flynn Obituary

Marilyn Jo Flynn, a cherished educator, devoted family matriarch, and beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, at the age of 88 in South Bend, Indiana. Born on April 8, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Marilyn was the loving daughter of Joe Currie and Jennavine (Krieter) Lupton. Her life was a testament to the power of education, the warmth of family, and the strength of community ties.

Marilyn's journey as an educator began in the classrooms of elementary schools, where she nurtured young minds with patience and passion. Her dedication to teaching and her innate ability to connect with her students left an indelible mark on countless lives. Marilyn's career evolved as she took her talents to Ivy Tech Community College, guiding and inspiring adult learners until her well-deserved retirement in 1983.

Beyond her professional achievements, Marilyn's heart was truly at home, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Clark and Stephine Flynn; her son, Erik (Annabel) Flynn; her four grandchildren, Benjamin Clark, Chandice (James) Milligan, Tanner Holderman, and Bradley (Kay-Anne) Archdeacon-Flynn; and her six great-grandchildren, Aden, Decklyn, Connor, Kinsley Milligan, Patience and James Archdeacon-Flynn. Marilyn's role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was filled with the same compassion and wisdom that she brought to her teaching, creating a legacy of love and learning that will continue to flourish in her family.

Marilyn was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister Margaret Jane Currie.

As we bid farewell to Marilyn Jo Flynn, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that deeply touched so many. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared by those who knew her and the countless lives she influenced. Marilyn's presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
