Martha "Marty" A (Royce) Saros

Martha “Marty” A. Saros, 82, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023. She was born in South Bend, IN on October 3, 1940, to the late Peter Thomas and Bessie Goldie (Pauwell) Royce. On June 8, 1958, she married Paul Saros who survives. Also surviving are her children, Paul (Frances) Saros, Daniel Saros, and Michael (Barbara) Saros; seven grandchildren, Martha (Chet) Syson, Stephanie Saros, Michael (Autumn) Saros Jr, Jaci (Evan) Speicher, Jillian (Ryan) Bonnell, Jamie Saros, and Paul (Victoria) Saros; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as countless beloved nieces and nephews. Martha is also survived by sisters, Barbara Smith and Karen Kratz, and brother Ralph (Anita) Royce. She was preceded in death by both her parents; sisters, Ruth Peterson, Linda Royce, and Mary Ellen Gee; and brothers, Ronald Royce, George Royce, and Arthur Royce; as well as brother-in-law, Douglas Smith; daughter-in-law, Janice Saros; and two children, Billy Jo and Dawn Saros. 

Martha was the past President, Vice President, Secretary, and District Governor for the Daughter’s of Penelope and past President of the Mishawaka/South Bend Women’s Bowling Association. She was also a member of the South Bend Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. Marty was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and cherished time spent with her large family. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 3 pm-7 pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN.  Services will begin at 7 pm in the funeral home with Father Terry Fisher officiating.  Martha will be laid to rest at 3 pm on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Highland Cemetery in South Bend.
