Mary (Griman) Stroup

Mary Stroup, 60, of Middlebury passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, surrounded by family. Mary was born in Elkhart, IN on December 3, 1962. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Patsy Griman; her beloved siblings, Pat, Joe, and Frank; and father-in-law, Dennis Stroup.

On October 17, 1981, she married the love of her life, Jim Stroup. Together they have two daughters, Erika (Steven) Leisure and Kathy (Carl) Byler, whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted Grammy to her six grandchildren, Bennett, Owen, Parker, and Kate Leisure; and Nathan and Noah Byler. She shared an especially close relationship with her mother-in-law, Kathy Stroup, who she lovingly referred to as Meeno.

Mary enjoyed camping with her husband and spending time having fun around the campfire with her “camper family.” She and Jim loved a good adventure and travelled often. Mary was extremely creative and loved making art projects, especially with her grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating her life on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm.

In honor of Mary’s unwavering dedication as a Memory Care Facilitator, working with those with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st Street, Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
