Mary Ann Wozniak passed away peacefully on Thursday August 30th, 2023. She was at home surrounded by her family.
A lifelong resident of Mishawaka, she was born on June 21st 1946, to Frank and Mary (Celie) Nagy, and was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank Nagy and son Matthew Wozniak. She is survived by her sister Susan Weinberg.
On January 14, 1967, in St. Bavo’s Church, Mary Ann married Thomas Wozniak who survives. Also surviving are her children Beth (Mike) Garatoni, Greg (Jennifer) Wozniak and Tim (Brooke) Wozniak; grandchildren Lauren, Matthew (Mary), Anna, Anthony, Mia, Sophia Garatoni, Adam, Jake, Jack and Henry Wozniak, Luther (Niesha) Jacobs, Grant (Katie) Wozniak.
An incredible wife and mother, her true calling was being a full time “Nana” to her many grandchildren, and her grandchildren’s friends. You could always find her cheering at every soccer game for her grandchildren. She was a doctor to all stuffed animals. She always called and sang to you on your birthday. And she never said no to a new adventure, always happy to be making new memories with her family following up with, “We had such a good time, didn’t we?”. She always signed her texts “XOXO Nana”, because in person she never let you leave without at least 10 hugs and an abundance of kisses on the cheek.
Mary Ann always left people better than she found them, a true testament to putting her strong faith into practice. She treated everyone like family and looked for opportunities to serve. If you mentioned you liked cookies, you could expect a delivery of 2 dozen a few days later. If you told her you were having a baby, you would be getting a hand knit blanket. If you got married, you received an ornament made from your wedding flowers. And she could not wait to make handmade slippers for anyone who was interested. She loved spending time with others and was a notorious card shark. You knew that if you were playing with Nana, you had to keep score where everyone could see it and be on your A Game. She loved spending time in her garden and always put together the most beautiful bouquets.
Mary Ann lived a beautiful life and loved unconditionally. She will be missed by all, but has no doubt been welcomed home to heaven with open arms.
