Mary Beth Lies peacefully went home to the Lord on March 14 after a long struggle with debilitating conditions. Mary Beth was born November 18, 1948, to Robert and Roberta Reardon in Indianapolis, IN. She is the second oldest of 4 siblings, who attended St. Lawrence grade school and Bishop Chatard high school in Indianapolis. Mary Beth went on to graduate from Indiana University School of Banking in 1972. She married James M. Lies in 1973 and celebrated 52 years of marriage. She enjoyed travel, motorhome camping, throwing parties, shopping, pets, genealogy, the casino and her many friendships.
Mary Beth could and did sell anything, After an early credit card career at AFNB in Indianapolis, she sold office equipment and supplies, and wholesale steel in Hoffman Estates, IL. And home furnishings for Sandock's. She had a magnetic personality (nickname Grumpy) and sparkling sense of humor which served her well as an aide at Morningside Nursing home. Mary Beth later spent 25 years as Recreation Services Director at Countryside Place Nursing Home (now Brickyard 12th St.) where she is still known as “the Legend”. Part of her legacy is that she won many industry awards and the friendship, admiration and respect of competing RSDs in the area.
Mary Beth leaves behind her husband Jim, sister Sheila Reardon of Raynham, MA, brothers John of Taunton, MA and Robert of Indianapolis; 2 daughters, Amy (William) Smith of Georgetown, TX and Christine (Demitrice) Wilson of LaVerne, CA; four grandchildren: Kira and Mason Smith, and Mia and Teyla Wilson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
