Matthew Gregory

     Matthew John Gregory, 65, passed away peacefully. Matt was born on December 2, 1959 in Valparaiso, IN as the son of Richard Gregory and Joyce (McDaniel) Gregory who preceded him in death.

     Matt is survived by his children, Breeana (Ryan) Wallick and Corey (Becky) Gregory; four grandchildren Madelyn Wallick, Teagan Wallick, Lincoln Gregory, and Conor Gregory; brothers Dan (LeAnn) Gregory and Dick (Yvette) Gregory; nephew Chris (Christina) Gregory; and nieces Jill (Charlie) Wilson, Kim (Michael) Normandin, and Ciara (Nick) Chase.

     Matt graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1978 and immediately began his career as a sprinkler fitter, joining the Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669 as an apprentice. He worked for VFP Fire Systems as a sprinkler fitter and later as a superintendent until his retirement in 2015. A proud member of Local 669 for 47 years, Matt took great pride in his profession and exemplified the strong work ethic that defined every part of his life.

     Matt was passionate about cooking and loved sharing his famous Chex Mix, peanut brittle, and homemade chicken and noodles with family and friends. He never met a stranger and was always ready for a good conversation, especially with neighbors and friends in the community.

     A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25th, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made in Matt’s name to Local Union 669 Disaster Relief Fund.
