Michael " Mike" Long

South Bend, IN-Michael “Mike” Long, 58, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.  Mike was born in South Bend, IN, on October 18, 1962, to John and Elizabeth (Mordew) Long.  Mike is survived by his wife, Kimberly Long; ex-wife, Deanna Wardlow; daughters, Laura (LeRoy) Treiber and Melissa Kissinger; sons, Jason (Amber Hodge) Long, Josh (Laura) Burnett, Oliver Newsome and Anthoney Newsome; grandchildren, LeRoy Jr., Addam, Dustin, Riley, Caleb, Henry, Andrew, Nevaeh, Greyson, Gwendilynne, Kevin, Karlie, Natalie, Malina and Jersey; and brothers, Leroy Long and Walter Aberegg. 

Mike worked as an engineer for most of his life and liked designing.  He spent 20+ years at Spincast/Elkhart Plastics.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed many hobbies including watching baseball, bowling in a league, listening to music by Bob Seger, and reading -- especially James Patterson novels.

Mike had a big heart and was full of love. He was a loving father to his children and grandchildren, whether he knew them from birth or met them later in life. His long-standing friendships with Tim Mathis and Wayne Hannah were also a source of joy for 45+ years.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday July 28 at 11:00 am at Summit Church 1700 W. River Road in Niles, Michigan.  Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
