Nora Parrott Morse Obituary

Nora Lee Booker Parrott Morse passed away surrounded by her family on January 2nd, 2021 after a courageous fight with aggressive cancer. Her strength and attitude were astounding and handled with humor and grace. She told us a week or so ago that Ken, her late husband, has been hanging around and they are ‘going to do good things for good people’.  Ken and Nora had a wonderful life together camping at Weko Beach and Sailing Lake Michigan. We have no doubt he’s preparing that big sailboat for her arrival.

Nora Lee was born to Lenora (Gosette) and Harlan “Book” Booker in 1947. She had an older brother Bobbie (Elaine) who was her idol, and two younger sisters that she adored Amy (Ron) and Julie (Tom). They grew up with many close cousins that spent summers at the shore.

After attending Council Rock High School in Bucks County PA in 1964, she was swept off her feet by and married to Charly Parrott for 18 years. They raised three children in Mishawaka, Julie (Gerry), Jill (Jim), and Jeff (Kristi) who survive.

In 1984 she married Ken Morse. They enjoyed 25 years of sailing, collecting antiques, and hosting Sunday dinners for the family. Ken has been in heaven watching over Nora for ten years.

Nora was a fun, hands-on Grandma. Always willing to crank up the radio on a trip to Dairy Queen or participate in a nerf gun fight or be a spa model for a face mask with cucumber eyes. She was devoted to her loving grandchildren Zachary (Danielle) Mitchell, Riley, Dylan, Drew, and Emily. And her Great-grandson Benjamin as well as nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren Kyle (Cassie), Abby (Neal), Nick, Max, Alexis, and Tanner.

Also left to cherish her memory is Ceelo her faithful Guard-Yorkie and her “boyfriend” and favorite jokester, Joe. Recently when asked about her hobbies she replied “no, not really, but I do have a boyfriend I’d like to get back to”.

She had a great sense of humor, an enormous heart, she was an excellent dancer, had a talent for event planning, and a fabulous cook! Every holiday was festive but Christmas Eve at Mom’s was magical. Birthdays were celebrated with a home-cooked meal and thoughtful gifts.

Nora retired from a banking career at Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. She prided herself on helping people with loans and even played matchmaker to a client and teller who are now happily married with three kids.

We will greatly miss our daily exchange of humorous texts and visits. Especially by her daughters/friends/partners-in-crime Julie and Jill.

Nora loved people and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found at the Elks Lodge #235 where she served a few terms as Chaplain and volunteered for Bingo with her dear friends.
