Ofelia Anguiano (Gonzalez Lopez)
October 28, 1939 – July 5, 2025
Passed away Saturday July , 2025 in Crown Point Christian Village
6685 E. 117th Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307
Ofelia was born in Los Ramones, Nueva Leon on October 28, 1939, Ofelia “Fela” Anguiano was the daughter of Pedro Lopez Gonzalez and Gumesinda Gonzalez. She had siblings who were present during her early childhood, including her older brother, Oliver Gonzalez, and her two older sisters, Juanita Gonzalez and Santitos Gonzalez. Ofelia’s sister Juanita, is now the last surviving sibling.
Over the years, she had various professions such as farming, commercial seamstress, and factory
line work. In her 30s, after a long day of work, she met someone who would change her
life—Her future husband, Urbano Anguiano, then 24 years old. Urbano brought love and care
into Ofelia’s life, something she had deeply missed since the loss of her parents. They married on
June 8, 1971. From their union came three sons, listed oldest to youngest: Juan, Jaime, and
Alfredo.
Ofelia was well known by her family for her wonderful culinary skills. Her tamales, sopes,
menudo, and various guisados will be missed.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, but primarily sharing the love of god with all. She loved sharing
God's knowledge and promises. She instilled the same love of God in her children. They thank
her for it.
Ofelia devoted herself to being a full-time stay-at-home mother. She was committed to giving
her children an education that she never had. Seeking spiritual guidance and unity for her family,
she joined the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization. This brought the family spiritual strength and a
community of faith that helped them navigate life’s challenges. Through her dedication, Ofelia
reached spiritual milestones—spreading the gospel, sharing Watchtower publications, and even
preaching up to 20 hours a month in her later years.
As time passed, her sons grew up and built successful lives of their own:
Juan Anguiano married Blanca Aragon and had three children: Eileen, John, and
Joseph.
Jaime Anguiano married Maria, and together they had a son: Oliver Anguiano.
Alfredo Anguiano is the youngest.
Ofelia spent many joyful years with her husband and within the Jehovah’s Witnesses
organization. Sadly, in June 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she lost her beloved
husband. Despite the grief, she continued to find purpose, adapting to technology and still
preaching where she could. She spent her 60s through 80s surrounded by her family, watching
her children grow, and cherishing her grandchildren.
As all stories must, hers came to a close. On July 5, 2025, Ofelia “Fela” Anguiano, age 86,
passed away peacefully in her sleep, having her hand gently held by her son, Freddie. She
remained faithful to Jehovah throughout her final days and passed away with the hope that she
would be reunited with her loved ones in the new world.
We are truly saddened by this loss. Although this void is not easily filled, may we all find
comfort in the Bible’s promise that Ofelia wholeheartedly believed:
“Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial
tombs will hear his voice and come out…” – John 5:28-29
The family would like to sincerely thank all those who, through their kindness during this
