Paul A. Daggy, 85, of Mishawaka passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Paul was born in Niles, MI on September 10, 1937, to the late Vern & Sadie (Schultz) Daggy. On June 23, 1989, he married Diane Lutz who survives. Paul is also survived by his children, Linda (Jay) Rutledge, Patty Keifer, Pam (Gary) Green and Lori (Jim) Messenger; stepsons, Mike & Greg Umbaugh; grandchildren, Julia, Michael and Fiona Keifer, Kaitlyn (Jesse) Nichols, Margaux (Zach) Vogel, Janelle (Matt) Ray, Mackenzie (Justin) Douthit, Lindsey Messenger, and Gabe (Maddi) Messenger; step grandchild, Katarina Cano; great grandchildren, Daxton, Ellie, Miriam, Carter, Kinsley, Amelia, Jovie, Fletcher, Gryffin, Huxton, Idalia, and Arlo; brother, Leo Daggy; and 3 nephews that he considered sons, Jon, Dave, and Mark Daggy. Paul is also survived by the mother of his 4 children, Catherine Daggy. He is preceded in death by a nephew he considered a son, Scott Daggy.
Paul proudly served in the United States Army. He loved Mishawaka High School where he worked as a groundskeeper for over 15 years. He is known for his crazy saying “Keep your dobber up”. He gave everyone he met a nickname. He insisted that you had to have a good handshake. He was skillful in woodworking which he did as a hobby his entire life.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 4 pm-7 pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at at Hilltop Lutheran Church 4114 S. Ironwood Dr, South Bend, IN with visitation 1 hour prior in the church.
