Peter LeVeque Obituary

Peter J. LeVeque, fondly known as Pete, passed away surrounded by his daughters on February 21, 2026, at his home in Mishawaka, Indiana. Pete was born on June 17, 1949, to the late Joseph LeVeque and Margaret (Rozas) LeVeque. He grew up in Mishawaka, the youngest of 5 brothers. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 and served through 1969 with an honorable discharge.

After serving his country, Pete returned with a sense of purpose to Mishawaka. He began a diligent service career at Mishawaka Utilities and then became a valued service technician with NIPSCO. He retired after 43 years of service.

Pete's zeal for life was evident in the way he embraced his interests. A die-hard Notre Dame football fan, he found joy cheering on his favorite team. His love for automotive beauty led him to attend numerous car shows and events, where he shared laughs and memories with fellow enthusiasts. A well-known figure at VFW Post 360 and Barnaby's Pizza, Pete's presence evoked a sense of camaraderie and warmth. He was also an adept euchre player, delighting in the thrill of the game and the company of his opponents. Yet nothing brought Pete more joy than his role as father and grampi. His family vacations to Florida and Hattie Pike with his daughters and their families were the joy of his life.  They were opportunities to create timeless memories, filled with laughter and love, with those he held dearest.

He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Dunbar and Rhonda (Kevin) Gradeless; his cherished grandchildren, Britton, Kate, Hannah, Leah, Carinne, Brooke, and Owen. He also adored all of his LeVeque nieces and nephews and held a special place in his heart for the Way family of Mishawaka, as well as numerous community friends. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charlie, Steve (Helen), Robert (Susan), and Tom.  Pete leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and spirited generosity that will be deeply missed by his extended family members, numerous friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A visitation for Pete will be held on Friday, February 27th, from 4-7pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 28th  at 10:00 am, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46544, followed by a military burial service at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
