Phyllis Jean (Weber) Barrett

Phyllis Jean Barrett, 96, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Tanglewood Trace Assisted Living facility in Mishawaka. Phyllis was born on December 9, 1926, the oldest of seven children of Phillip and Zelpha Weber and was a life-long resident of Mishawaka.

Phyllis married Owen Barrett on June 7, 1947, was the mother of five and was preceded in death by her oldest son, Bruce Owen Barrett and by her daughter, Beth Ann Madigan. She is survived by two siblings, Marylou Wilson and John Weber; three children, Brent (Sally) Barrett, Becky (Keith) Ogorek and Brenda (Dan) McCabe, as well as thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was well known in the Michiana area as a Tupperware dealer/manager, a product she presented and sold for more than 42 years. Most importantly, she was a devoted Christian and a true evangelist. She had a strong, abiding faith in God which she joyfully shared with all who would hear and receive it. As a result, she became a spiritual mother to many who sat at her kitchen table and heard the Word of God proclaimed. Phyllis also served for many years as a women’s leader for the Emmaus Walk program.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held for Phyllis on June 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Marks Missionary Church, 55240 Bittersweet Rd., Mishawaka, IN  46545.  Phyllis will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Osceola, IN.
