Richard A Smith

Richard A. Smith, 79, of Elkhart passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022.  Richard was born in Mishawaka on March 20, 1943, to the late Carlos George and Violet Ada Smith. He is preceded in death by his 13 siblings and son, Brian K. Smith.  Surviving is his wife, Margaret (Pugh) Smith. 

Richard was an avid train spotter and a collector of all thing’s trains.  He enjoyed hand feeding birds and squirrels.  He was known as the “Candyman” at New Life Church. 

The family will receive friends 12 pm-1 pm on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka, IN 46544 with a memorial service to begin at 1 pm with Pastor Mike Cramer officiating.  Richard will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
