Rita Weisweaver

           Rita Cabrini Weisweaver, 97 passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Brickyard at Fountianview Place in Mishawaka. She was born on April 27, 1927, in Mishawaka the daughter of Alice (Lombardelli) and Celeste Cabrini, who preceded her in death. Rita was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O. Weisweaver on December 25, 1992; sister, Lena H. Lyvers on February 22, 2020; and stepdaughter, Mary Lee Owen on February 7, 2024.

            Rita was a lifelong resident of Mishawaka, graduating from Mishawaka High School Class of 1944. She was employed at Uniroyal Inc for 30 years, retiring in 1973. She was a Charter member and past president of the Mishawaka Eagles Lodge #2083 Ladies Auxiliary, past president of the De Amici’s Auxiliary, member of the Mishawaka Alumni Association, Uniroyal Ladies Club and Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church in Mishawaka.

            She was an accomplished seamstress and did considerable sewing from her home. Rita never met a stranger, she enjoyed people, playing cards and meeting with her friends.

            She is survived by her stepson, Thomas R. (Ruth) Weisweaver of Puyallup, WA; 8 step grandchildren, her niece and caretaker, Mary A. Lyvers, and many nieces and nephews.

            Visitation is Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, in the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Mishawaka City Cemetery.
