Robert Pearce Obituary

Robert H. Pearce, 89 years old, passed away on May 24, 2021, at his home in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born on July 16, 1931, in Hillsdale, Michigan to the late Hale and Addah (Bush) Pearce.

Bob was raised in several communities in Michigan, graduating from Coldwater High School. He attended Michigan State University, majoring in physics and graduating in 1953. After college, Bob served a stint in the Army. Following his service, he moved to Mishawaka where he spent the remainder of his life.

After moving to Mishawaka Bob met Barbara (Etchison) Pearce whom he married on June 15, 1957 in Arcadia, Indiana. Bob and Barb had two children and were married for 48 years until her death in 2005.

In 2009, Bob married Norma (Oberly) Pearce who also preceded him in death in 2016.

Bob moved to the Primrose Retirement Community in 2016 and relished the community and its residents. While there, he met his partner Eleanor Keb, who survives.

For much of his career, Bob worked for Uniroyal, Inc. as a systems analyst. He then worked in IT for Memorial Health System for the remainder of his career.

Bob loved the Mishawaka community and enjoyed participating in and volunteering with many local organizations. Most notably, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka for more than 50 years, where he sang in the choir and served in several volunteer roles. He was a member of the Mishawaka Rotary Club for more than 40 years.

Bob enjoyed traveling and visited many locations both foreign and domestic. He appreciated all types of live music and theater and attended performances ranging from concerts in the park to Broadway shows as often as possible. Most important to Bob, however, was his family, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Natalie Pearce of Indianapolis, and Valerie (Robert) Hicks of Mishawaka, grandchildren, Ian McDaniel and Katherine McDaniel, both of Indianapolis, and sister, Barbara Pearce of Clinton Township, Michigan. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Pearce of Coldwater, Michigan.
