Robert K. Spencer

Robert Spencer, 77, of South Bend passed away at his home on September 19, 2022, after an extended illness.  He was born in Mishawaka, IN on November 21, 1944, to Robert and Anne Spencer.  He grew up in Mishawaka and attended St. Bavo grade school and St. Joseph High School.  He met his future wife, Ginny Pechi in grade school and they later married on September 2, 1967.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ginny; daughters, Jennifer Arnett and Jill Van’thof who all lovingly cared for him during his illness.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jackson Arnett, Grace Arnett, Brad Sloma, Courtney Sloma and Hailey Van’thof; sisters, Margaret (Don) Miller and Barb Brock; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Spencer.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Spencer.

Bob loved spending time with his family and was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He was proud of his Belgian heritage and loved his donuts from West End Bakery.  Bob enjoyed the sport of running and ran several Chicago Marathons.  He had a great comradery with is running friends and had many in depth conversations with them on their 20 mile training runs.

Bob proudly served in the US Marine Corps.  He graduated from Tri-State University with an Accounting Degree and was a CPA, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance at several companies over a 40 year career.

Viewing will be 10 am-12 pm on Friday, September 23rd at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12 pm in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka.  Following the mass there will be a graveside service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.
