Rose Marie Stuart, 85, of Mishawaka passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Rose Marie was born in Mishawaka on May 8, 1936, to the late Joseph W. and Rose Eugenia (Greenwood) Arata. On May 31, 1958, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Rose Marie married Ronald Stuart who preceded her in death on April 26, 2016. Also preceding Rose Marie in death is her son, Stephen Stuart; granddaughter, Katelynn Stuart; sisters, Lois Arata, Marianne Arata and Ruth Ann “Dolly” Donahue; and daughter in law, Karen Stuart. Surviving are her 11 children, Philip Stuart, Paul Stuart, Peter (Shannon) Stuart, Angela (Dave) Majewski, Zita Horvath, Anthony (Teena) Stuart, Kenneth (Julie) Stuart, Sharon Stuart (Mike), Monica (Joel) Fletcher, Regina Stuart and Damien (Molly) Stuart; 40 grandchildren; and siblings, Janet (Donald) DeCocker, Kathleen (Larry) Hostetler, Frances Sandefur, and Timothy (Robyne) Arata.
Rose Marie worked as a Teacher’s Aide at St. Bavo School. Rose Marie was proud of her large family. She enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, canning, fishing, and traveling. Her faith was important to her, and she stayed active in the St. Bavo Parish.
The family will receive friends 4-8 pm on Monday, April 18, 2022, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka with Father Pete Pacini CSC officiating. Rose Marie will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
