Ruthann W. (Wishart) Walters

South Bend, IN-Ruthann Walters, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. She was born to the late David and Blanch (Crawford) Wishart on August 12, 1939, in Mattoon, IL. Ruthann married Orville “Sunny” Walters on September 2, 1988, in Elkhart, IN.

Ruthann is survived by her loving husband, Orville; children, Brian (Bambi) Kanouse and Kristi Roberts; grandchildren, Angela Degeyter, Mike Kanouse, Greg Kanouse, Sophia Kanouse, Cory (Sarah) Foren, Paige Foren, Jase Foren, Brandon Foren, Kelly Roberts and Justine (Kyle) Langhans; and great-grandchild, Taylor Carire.  Preceding Ruthann is her son, Kevin Kanouse; brother, Ronald Wishart; and son-in-law, Randy Roberts. 

Ruthann graduated from Mishawaka High School.  She enjoyed being outdoors observing nature & landscapes, camping and traveling to other states.  She enjoyed painting pictures and creating other decorative wall hangings, many of the landscapes she observed while traveling.  Along with painting, Ruthann was a self-employed seamstress, making custom draperies and dresses for 15 years before retiring.  Ruthann was a member of the Southlawn United Methodist Church where she painted a wall mural in the children’s room.  She was also a member of the Eagles #395 and South Bend Moose Lodge.  Every Christmas she would make gifts for her family members.  She loved her children very much and wanted only the best for each of them.  Cats were one of her favorite pets. 

Funeral Services for Ruthann will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
