Sandra J. Kwiatkowski

Sandra “Sandy” J. Kwiatkowski, 76, of Mishawaka, went to be with the Lord on May 2 after a hard-fought battle with dementia.

            She was born on August 8, 1947, to Charles “Caesar” VanDeGenahte and Phyllis “Jean” (Hardesty) VanDeGenahte, who preceded her in death.

            Sandy was the owner and operator of Looks Styling and Health and greatly enjoyed visiting with her clients, who oftentimes became good friends. She had a passion for collecting all kinds of clocks, music boxes, animal figurines, and lots and lots of books. She also loved animals and had a hard time turning away any animal that needed a home. You could often find her outside pulling weeds, planting flowers, or feeding “her” birds.

            She is survived by her two children, Jeneane Arter and Don Kwiatkowski; her two grandchildren, Gabe Arter and Jackson Arter; and her older brother, Charles “Chuck” VanDeGenahte. She also leaves behind her little, old dog, Martha and her sweet cat, Boo.

            Her family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of the caregivers who helped Sandy through the last months of her life. In accordance with Sandy’s wishes, a private memorial will be held in her honor.

            Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, Pet Refuge, and Resale to the Rescue.
