Saul Galvan

     Saul Galvan, 56 of South Bend, Indiana passed away the morning of Friday, October 4, 2024, after a battle with renal cancer. Saul was known in the food and drink service industry as a well-respected worker in the kitchen at businesses such as Bar Louie, Bleachers, and for the last decade Mitch’s Corner and Second Base. 

      Saul was born in Mexico City, Mexico by his mother Maria de la Luz on May 24,1968. He left his life in Mexico and moved to California where he established himself for some years before heading to Indiana.  Saul has always been precise in his kitchen skills to build himself a better life, and because of this he was able to move his brother Carlos from Mexico City to live with him in South Bend. They were not only brothers, but roommates, amazing coworkers and best friends. 

      Although Saul and Carlos were the only ones from their bloodline to be here, Saul had made many other families out of friends. His impact on the community and everyone he would meet is beyond extraordinary. There is not a single person that has ever had a negative word to say about his character or his work ethic. He would help anyone in any way he could and do it without being asked. Most of his closest friends were made due to Saul being a force to be reckoned with on the pool table. Not only was he an amazing player, but he loved to teach the art and skill of the game to whoever wanted to learn, at no cost to them whatsoever. There was no such thing as a stranger to Saul. He loved his friends dearly.

     Though his brother Carlos is still here in South Bend, Saul is preceded in death by his mother Maria, but survived by a large loving family that all reside in Mexico which includes his beautiful sisters Teresa, Susana, Norma, and Erika along with his brother Luis, 5 nieces and 12 nephews. Being an extreme animal lover and rescuer, he also is survived by his dog Nillhas, his cats Guerito, Lalo, and a variety of beautiful fish. 

      A benefit will be held on Saturday, October 26th at Mitch’s Corner Sports Bar 1516 N Ironwood Dr, South Bend from 2pm-6pm. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 5504 Town Center Dr, Granger from 2pm - 9pm
