Sophie DeCook

   Sophie M. DeCook, 98, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. She was born on July 21, 1927, to Peter and Elizabeth Dhaeze.

   On November 23, 1946, Sophie married the love of her life, Raymond DeCook, at Sacred Heart Church. They shared 55 happy years of marriage before Raymond’s passing on January 13, 2002.

   Sophie was employed at Jamil Packaging for many years before retiring.

   She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Deb DeCook; her grandchildren, Todd (Heather) DeCook and Danielle (Chad) Harper; and her great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Aubrey, Wesley, Brady, Emmett, Duncan, and Cora. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Antoinette DeCook Youts, and her niece, Becky Giszewski.

   She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond; her son, Lawrence DeCook; and her brother, Emiel Dhaeze.

   A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Highland Cemetery.

   The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Primrose for the compassionate care they provided to Sophie.
