Steven J. De Meulenaere

Steven J. De Meulenaere, 65, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Hospice House-Mishawaka surrounded by his family.  Steve was born in Mishawaka on December 27, 1955, to the late John and Agnes (Demski) De Meulenaere.  On August 13, 2013, Steve married Mary (Fahey) Smith-De Meulenaere who survives.  Also surviving are his children, Devin (Dion) Mawhorter and Eric De Meulenaere; grandchild, Re’al De Meulenaere; sisters, Carol (Edley) Robbins, Linda Scott, and Diane De Meulenaere; a brother, Michael (Laurel) De Meulenaere; and several nieces and nephews. 

Steve is a 1975 graduate of Mishawaka High School.  He retired from Dorbin’s Supermarket after 28 years as a meat cutter.  He loved sports especially golf and softball.  While he might be a White Sox fan, his family doesn’t agree with that.  He has also been known to place a bet or two. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff, nurses, and doctors at Center for Hospice Care for all the care they provided to Steve.

Visitation will be 12-2 pm, Sunday, September 19th at Hahn Funeral Home in Mishawaka with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm.  Contributions can be made to Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.
