Steven B. Goddard, 71, passed away in the early morning of Thursday, February 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer
Steve was born on November 28, 1953, in South Bend, IN to Melvin and Barbara (Dosmann) Goddard. His beloved parents preceded him in death as well as three of his brothers, Phillip Goddard, Alan Goddard, and Richard Goddard, as well as two brothers in laws Tom Deal and Jim Sili . Surviving Steven is his amazing partner and the love of his life Becky Blackston and her son Teddy Ames, who was like a son to him. His only daughter Melanie Goddard and his three amazing grandkids whom he so adored Jaylene Bice, Danielle Bice, and Xander Goddard. Also, ten loving siblings Gary Goddard, Janet Sili, Marcia Deal, Nancy (Bill Stant) Goddard, Ed Goddard, Pam (Todd Perry) Goddard, Carol Goddard, Terry (Carol) Goddard, Jim (Nancy) Goddard and Kevin (Dawn) Goddard. Plus, many nieces, nephews and friends that turned into family. He has left a place in each of our hearts that will always miss him dearly.
Steve was the 6th child born out of 14 siblings. He graduated from Penn High School in 1972. He was a machinist for many years but could do just about anything! He was a very intelligent man and had the greatest sense of humor. He really could do it all! Steve was always there for his family and friends with a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, words of wisdom or just to make you smile. He loved to garden and had many beautiful plants and flowers inside and outside of his home. His favorites were the ones that used to be his mothers. He took great care of them and loved showing off their beauty. Steve and Becky held card games with their friends every Sunday. He always enjoyed hosting and making them laugh. He loved making amazing food and his famous zucchini bread. Everything he made with love, and you could tell. He also loved listening to music, it got him through a lot in life. He was known as the bone man to all the local dogs, as he would always have a box of bones on hand for them to enjoy a treat. Steves’ all-time favorite title though was Grandpa. His grandkids meant the absolute world to him, and he meant the world to them. He was always making them smile and laugh with his silly and playful ways. They always cherished their time together. You couldn’t find a kinder heart than Steves' and he was a friend to everyone he met. He is loved by so many people. He will always be remembered for his comedic sense of humor and his quick wit that could make you laugh even in your darkest moments.
The family is planning a celebration of life in the near future. Steves’ life was definitely one to be remembered and celebrated. He will always remain in our hearts and will be missed immensely.
