Susan Yerkes

   Mishawaka - Beech Grove, IN - Susan Yerkes, 88, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Altenheim Family First Senior Living in Beech Grove, IN. 

   Susan was born on January 15, 1938, in Mishawaka, IN to Dorothy and Kenneth Robinson. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William (“Bill”) Yerkes, and her identical twin sister, Sally Nasco. 

   On June 15, 1958, in First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, she married Bill Yerkes and together they had two beautiful daughters. Susan is survived by their daughters, Debra Reed of Beech Grove and Dawn (Timothy) Edwards of Memphis, TN.

    Grandchildren, Terry Allen (Kristen) Reed Jr. “TJ”, Jennifer Mutz-Reed, Melissa (Nicholas) Barnhart, Jessica (Jeremy) Dolan and Rachel Edwards; Great grandchildren, Scarlett Jo Reed, Vincent William Reed, Zayde Stewart, Edwards Scott Barnhart, Evangeline Anne Barnhart, Eleanor Nina Dolan, and Leo Frank Dolan.

    Susan was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and loved crafting, interior decorating, collecting dolls and teddy bears, Christmas time, and the color pink. Bill and Sue took several trips, including, Bahamas, Canada, Russia, and New York along with other American cities. She was also an active knitter, making hats for friends, family and grandbabies. She also sent her homemade hats abroad as part of mission-care packages.

    Visitation will be on Saturday, March 21st from 9am - 11am at the First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow immediately after. The burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Third Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
