Susan A. Stamm, 77, died peacefully on Friday morning, November 10, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, surrounded by her loving family after an extended battle with cancer. She was born on September 28, 1946, in Mishawaka, Indiana to Dale and Eloise (Williams) Hahn. On July 13, 1968, she married Larry Stamm, who survives. “Susie” was a lifetime area resident. She graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka. She received her B.S. degree in education from Ball State University and her master’s degree in education from Indiana University South Bend. Susie served as a teacher in Wa-Nee Schools as well as Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation for 39 years. In her retirement, she worked part-time for Scooter Warehouse. Susie was a member of Trinity Church in South Bend and attended a local church, in the Winter months, in Lakeland, Florida. Susie was a devoted follower of Christ, which gave her strength during her battle with cancer. She was a member of the Madison Township Lion’s Club, a member of the Indiana State Teachers’ Association and the National Education Association.
In addition to her husband, Larry, survivors include, two sons, Chad (Jami) Stamm of Elkhart and Ryan (Betsy) Stamm of South Bend; two sisters, Patricia (Wayne) Moore-Rowe of Mishawaka and Cathy (Bill) Bugg of Jacksonville, Florida; stepsisters, Linda Nagy and Judy Pauwels as well as sisters-in-law, Kathy Hahn and Cindy Hahn. Susie is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Austin (Shelby Nierman) Stamm, Micah Stamm, Mackenzie Mencias, Lydia Stamm, Mia Mencias and Ellie Stamm. Besides her parents, Susie was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Billy” Hahn and Jim Hahn as well as her stepmother, Carol Heater Hahn.
The family will receive friends from 4pm-8pm, on Thursday, November 16th, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at 11am, on Friday, November 17th, at Trinity Church, 61770 Miami Rd, South Bend, IN 46614, with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.
