Sylvia H. Vinton, passed away peacefully on the 6th of February, 2026, in Mishawaka, IN, at the age of 71. Born on September 5, 1954, in Livermore, CA, Sylvia brought joy and warmth to the lives of all those she met.
Sylvia was met in her passing by her beloved parents, Roberto Rangel Vinton and Maria Garcia Hewtty, and by her siblings, Ramona, Juan, and her infant brother, Guadalupe. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her devoted husband, Jose Salinas Sr.; her four children, Jose (Aislinn) Salinas Jr., Gary (Elva) Salinas, Michael Salinas, and Krystal Perez; her adored grandchildren, McKinley, Sawyer, Wilder, Madden, Gary Jr. (Natasha), Lauren, Jose III, Dakota, Logan, Genesis, Giovanni, and Kalani; her precious great-grandchildren, Legend, Legacy, Lyric, and Love. Sylvia is also survived by her siblings, Robert, Maria, Amparo, Pauline, and Guadalupe, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Sylvia dedicated her life to caring for her family. Her caring nature extended beyond the walls of her own home and into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a living example of love in action, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Sylvia's interests painted a picture of her vibrant and nurturing spirit. She enjoyed cooking, especially making her family's favorite tortillas from scratch, an art she passed on to future generations. Her playful side would shine during games of bingo and on her many shopping excursions, which were as much about the joy of finding bargains as the pleasure of time spent with family and friends. She was also an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed tuning into the games to cheer on the team.
More than anything, Sylvia loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they were the light of her life. She relished in taking her children to local places that sparked joy, like The Enchanted Forest in Chesterton, IN, where memories that will last a lifetime were created.
Those who had the opportunity to meet Sylvia describe her as the kindest person one could ever encounter. Her gentle, loving nature, and her beautiful soul, made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Sylvia's spirit radiated outward, enveloping those around her in warmth and kindness.
A Celebration of Life for Sylvia will be held at a later date. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements and extends their deepest sympathies to the Salinas family.
