Tammy Thomas Obituary

Mishawaka, IN-Tamala “Tammy” J. Thomas, 61, loving wife, mother, sister and friend went peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Tammy was born in South Bend, IN, on November 13, 1959, to James Paul and Betty Lou Kyle who preceded her in death.

Tammy graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1977.  She was the personal secretary for Robert and Kapacinskas for over 20 years where she developed a close bond with the entire family.  She was a member of the College Park Missionary Church where she served as the treasurer for many years.  Tammy had a strong passion for helping others including mentoring for the Five Star Program at John Young Middle School for 7 years.  She loved music of all kinds, going to concerts and gardening.  She especially loved spending time with family and friends, especially her granddaughters who were her inspiration to keep fighting.  Tammy inspired others with her example of courage and positivity, always staying focused on the good in her life.  Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 31 years, Mark Thomas; sons, Levi and Travis Thomas; 2 precious granddaughters, Luna and Violet Thomas; her sister, Deborah (Kyle) Wilson; her brother, Tim Kyle; sister-in-law, Anita (Thomas) Poorman and many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends including her YaYa sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all their friends and family for the outpouring of love and kindness shown to Tammy and the family during this difficult journey.  Also, to the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, St. Joe Rehab and Michiana Hematology/Oncology for their excellent care of Tammy.

Visitation will be 3:00 pm-7:00 pm, Friday, February 5, 2021, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka.  Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, February 6, 2021, at College Park Missionary Church, 2014 Liberty Drive, Mishawaka.
