Granger – Thomas Koehn, 71, passed away at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center on Thursday February 8, 2024. Thomas was born June 5, 1952, in Elkhart to Richard Koehn and Evelyn (Reed) Koehn of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson Christopher Michaelis.
On August 21, 1976, in South Bend he married Jennifer (Michaelis) Koehn. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jennifer; daughter, Stephanie Homman; his step grandchildren, Nicole Homman, Paige Craig, and Codie Michaelis; and his sisters, Karen Cox, Kathy Galloway (David), Beth Lusher (Art) and 8 nieces and nephews.
Thomas worked for L&J Press/Press Parts in Elkhart as a machinist and was a veteran of the U.S Army. An avid I.U. Basketball fan, he coached girls’ basketball and chaperoned for St. Joe County Special Olympics. He had been an orderly at Elkhart General Hospital and an E.M.T. for the Medical Transportation Service in his youth. A loving, giving, gentle man, he was always wanting to help people, most of all his family to whom he was truly devoted. He loved Christmas and his large family gatherings, holding many 4th of July parties at his home. He will be truly missed.
There will be no formal service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Donations to the American Cancer Society would be welcomed.
