Timothy Price Obituary

Timothy Joseph Price, 53, died on Sunday, February 10 in Rochester, Indiana.  He was born March 13, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana to Fred and Sandra (Hostetler) Price, who preceded him in death.

Tim was a lifelong resident of the Michiana area.  He graduated from Stanley Clark, Marian High School and Purdue University.  He was very active in sports and was a walk on football player for the Boilermakers.  Upon graduation from Purdue, Tim worked in sales and accounting in the automotive safety design and packaging industry.  On October 30, 1993 he married his loving wife, Lori Schwenk at Little Flower Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana.  They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.

They have two children Sarah Elizabeth, 22 and Michael Joseph, 18.  Tim’s children were his inspiration and greatest joy.  He was so proud of both and the young adults that they have become. As a family they took many trips together.  This past summer they took a wonderful trip to Europe, but Tim’s favorite place for family vacations was Emerald Isle, North Carolina.

Tim was an only child but his cousin, Debbie Mayer, was like his sister.  They grew up tormenting each other just like any other brother and sister, but you could find no other duo who loved each other more.  His Aunt Caralee and Uncle John Mayer, were always by his side, supporting him like a son.  He was the apple of his Aunt Caralee’s eye and according to her, he could do no wrong.

Tim, liked to refer to his brothers in law: George, Jim, and Tom, and sisters in law: Evie, Debbie and Charlee, and many nieces and nephews as the Schwenk Crew.  He would say that they adopted him and called him one of their own, this meant the world to him. He could not wait for Hunting Camp at Schwenk Farms, where he would often tell stories of how he, the old man, would have to carry the deer out of camp by himself.  He was proud of the fact that he taught his nephews how to skin a deer.  He loved his nieces and nephews more than they could ever know and would smile when they called him their “cool “uncle.

Tim always wanted to help and care for people in any way that he could.  Whether cutting wood and delivering it to his friends or frying fish for the Fish Fry at his church, St Bavo’s Parish, he wanted to help with everything.  School Board, Parish Council, Finance Council, Knights of Columbus, Habitat for Humanity, Marian Auction, and volunteer algebra teacher, Tim felt great peace when worked for the people of the parish and community.

He loved hosting monthly poker night at the Price Cabin and his summer golf league with his partner, Father Barry England.  His yearly fishing trip to Canada was something he looked forward to all year.  His good friends Todd, Ryan, David and Pat started the tradition that Tim loved.  Later Joe joined and the stories were memorable and funny, to say the least.

Tim will be deeply missed.  He was loved by all he met.  And, while his physical presence will be missed, his spirit is among us always.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 15, at Hahn Funeral Home in Mishawaka from 3pm to 7pm.  Saturday, a mass of Christian burial will be held at St Bavo Catholic Church at 11:00am.  Tim’s ashes will be scattered at his favorite places, and his final resting place will be at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery in Rochester, IN.  Donations to St Bavo’s Parish can be made in Tim’s memory.
