Toni Morris Obituary

Toni Lee Morris, age 82, formerly of Mishawaka, Indiana and more recently of Millers Merry Manor in Culver, Indiana passed away on June 28, 2025, after an extended illness.  Toni was born on November 18, 1942, to Baxter Montgomery and Imogene Gilbert Sheetz in Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

She was predeceased by her husband Larry Joe Morris Sr.  in 2014, son Larry Joe Morris Jr.; step-daughter, Dawn Marie Morris; her parents; stepmother Esther Montgomery; step-father, William Leonard; and brother, Delbert Montgomery. She was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

On April 20, 1963, in Mishawaka, Indiana Toni and Larry were united in marriage. Together they raised six children:  Dawn Marie, William “Russ” (Karen) of Mishawaka, Don (Elizabeth Pollock) of Nice, France, Larry Jr. (Kristi), Angela of Mishawaka and Michael (Jennifer) of Noblesville, Indiana.  In addition to her children, she is also survived by grandchildren Geoff Line, Tim Morris, Grace Morris, Rhianon Morris, Autumn Morris, Dan Misener, Derek Bollenbacher, Drew Bollenbacher, Noah Morris and Shelby Morris.  Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, together with sisters Linda Manring and Debbie Palmer, and brothers Ben Leonard, Steve Montgomery and Todd Montgomery.

After raising six children, Toni applied her hard-earned homemaking and child-raising skills and went to work in the South Bend Community School Corporation as a cafeteria worker, progressing from a role as a “lunch lady” to being the manager of the cafeteria at Jefferson School. She loved working with and feeding children and was determined that no child would ever leave her cafeteria hungry, regardless of if they had money for lunch or not.

Throughout her life, Toni put the needs of others above her own. This was most evident when it came to her children, often times going without making sure they had what they needed. It also applied to other family members, where she would go out of her way to care for them or to just make sure they were included in holidays and other celebrations.

Toni was a beautiful, kind, loving and wonderful lady.

The family would like to thank the staff at Millers Merry Manor in Culver for their wonderful care and for the incredible compassion and kindness they showed to Toni.
