Valerie A (Pearce) Hicks

Valerie Ann Pearce Hicks of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away on November 20, 2022. She was born in South Bend, Indiana on June 23, 1965, to Robert and Barbara Pearce.

Valerie grew up in Mishawaka, graduating from Mishawaka High School in 1984.

Valerie met the love of her life, Robert Hicks, and they married on May 15, 1993, at First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka. Bob and Valerie enjoyed traveling, participating in Masonic and Eastern Star events, ballroom dancing and spending time together.

An avid animal lover, Valerie had a soft spot in her heart for all types of animals. She loved many dogs and cats who were her companions throughout her life. She was an avid music fan and had an uncanny ability with puzzles and word games. With her outgoing personality, Valerie made friends easily and she was happiest when surrounded by friends and family.

Valerie was a member of St. Joseph Chapter 569 Order of the Eastern Star and Lakeville United Methodist Church.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Barbara Pearce; grandparents, Hale and Ada Pearce and Vallie and Gertrude Etchison; and uncle, Lewis Pearce.

Valerie is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; sister, Natalie Pearce; aunt, Barbara Pearce; uncle, Phil (Lavonne) Etchison; niece, Katherine (Myles Garrett) McDaniel; nephew, Ian (Kara Osburn) McDaniel; brother-in-law, Bill (Lori) Hicks; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Wayne) Vance, Mary (Brett) Huffer, Jane (Gary) Mendenhall and Amy (Andrew) Schemelhorn; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. All her family will miss her terribly.

Donations in honor of Valerie’s life may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be Monday, November 28th from 1:00 – 3:30 PM at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St., Mishawaka, IN. An Eastern Star memorial service will be at 3:30 PM and all are welcome. The funeral will follow at 4:00 PM. Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 29th at 12:00 PM at Arcadia Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Arcadia, IN.
