Victor Alfred Desimone, age 82, of Osceola, Indiana, passed away on the 28th of October 2024 after a courageous 5 ½ year battle versus stage 4 lung cancer. Victor never quit fighting. During the last 5 1/2 years he endured many obstacles however Victor was always concerned about others, never a selfish man.
Born on April 18, 1942, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to proud parents Victor Desimone and Anna (Deluvia) Desimone, Victor lived a life marked by dedication to his family and service to his country. Victor instilled those same family values that were instilled in him down to his family.
Victor is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Becky (Shearer) Desimone; his children, Gina Desimone, Ronald (Debbie) Desimone, and Brian (Dawn) Desimone. He was a cherished Papa to Tawny (Robert), Nicollette (Mike), Corleone (Emily), Gabrielle, Gianna, and Anthony (Taylor), and a great-grandfather to Lilliana, Kolten, Trey, Nolen, Lorenzo, and Jack. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Bella.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Anna, his daughter Gina Marie, as well as his sister Sarah Rothy and brothers Ross and Larry Desimone, and Michael Desimone.
After graduating from Mishawka High School, he spent 3 years in the United Sates Navy in which he was very proud of serving his country. Victor dedicated himself as a service tech/repairman for St. John Business Machines in South Bend for many years until they were acquired by Ikon in which he retired from 2006. His commitment and passion left an enduring impact on all who knew him. Victor's legacy of love, integrity, and kindness will be treasured forever.
After retirement Victor held a few part-time jobs. The one Victor enjoyed the most was working as a driver for the Council of Aging Elkhart County. Victor enjoyed the interaction picking up patients and getting them to their appointments. Victor’s hobbies included taking care of his pristine yard, spending time on his patio, fishing, fastpitch softball, watching the TV show Gunsmoke, spending quality time with family and enjoyed watching his grandkids in their extra-curricular activities.
Victor was fortunate to live in a neighborhood with so many outstanding neighbors. Victor enjoyed walking Bella around the block and conversing with many of them. Many neighbors considered Victor the “Godfather of the neighborhood”.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th Street, Mishawaka, with Funeral Services to follow at 6:00 in the Funeral home, with Reverend Dr. Michael Cramer Officiating. Military rights will be conducted following services at the Funeral Home.
In honor of Victor, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the VFW/ Legion Burial Squad, 1307 E Jefferson Blvd, Mishawaka.
