Victor L. Smith-Moreland, known affectionately as Victor to his friends and family, passed away in an accidental death on May 21, 2025, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born on June 30, 2008, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Victor's zest for life and his kind, adventurous spirit touched all who knew him throughout his 16 years.
Victor was a cherished son to Timothy Smith-Moreland, whom he fondly called "Pops," and Jimmy Smith-Moreland, his loving Dad. He was a beloved brother to Brandon, Jordan, and Josiah Smith-Moreland, sharing with them a bond that was both tender and strong. Victor's family circle included his adoring Grandma GiGi, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss his warm presence. He was preceded in death by his Grandma Linda, Grandpa and Grandma Moreland, and his great Grandma, who have now welcomed him into eternal peace.
Educated in his hometown, Victor attended St. Anthony's, John Young Middle School, and Mishawaka High School. His academic journey was marked by a curious mind and a friendly demeanor that made him a favorite among his friends and teachers alike.
Victor's work at McDonald's was characterized by his diligent and cheerful nature, earning him respect and friendship. Victor's interests were a reflection of his adventurous and creative spirit. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing, the thrill of skateboarding, and the expressive outlet of drawing and found joy in making others laugh. These activities were not just hobbies for Victor; they were extensions of his loving soul, each stroke of the pencil and glide on the board a testament to his life. Those who knew Victor would describe him as exceptionally kind, always ready with a helping hand or a comforting word. His loving nature was a beacon of light, guiding those around him through their own challenges. His adventurous spirit was contagious, inspiring others to explore, to take risks, and to savor the beauty of the world around them. A quote that encapsulates Victor's approach to life comes from the renowned author, Helen Keller: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Victor lived by these words, embracing each day as a precious opportunity for discovery and joy.
As we bid farewell to Victor L. Smith-Moreland, we celebrate a life lived with boundless love and bravery. His memory will continue to inspire us, and his spirit will forever be a part of the lives he touched. Though he has left this earthly realm far too soon, the legacy of kindness and adventure he leaves behind will never be forgotten.
A visitation for Victor will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St. The funeral service will take place at 7:00 PM, in the Funeral Home.
