Yvonne Mahan Obituary

Yvonne Lorraine Mahan, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, following an extended illness. She was born in Hammond, Indiana on June 22, 1927, the daughter of Ernest Earl Hill and Gladys Marie Hill (DeGraff). On July 7, 1952, she married L. “Gene” Mahan, who preceded her in death on November 23, 2008. They shared 57 special years together, during which they loved to travel with family and friends, creating many great memories at parties, casinos, and dog and horse tracks.

Together they raised two sons, Barry W. Harding and Michael A. Harding (Bobbi). They were blessed with six grandchildren, Rhonda Williams (Michael Marazita), Michael T. Harding (Kimberly), Ryan Harding (Erin), Erin Harding (Clay Tucker), Colin Harding (Jamey), and Regan Wasoski (Ryan). She was beloved by their great-grandchildren, Matthew Williams (Rebekah), Cory Harding (Krista), Colin, Christopher, Emmett, Elliott, Bennett, Everett, Kenton, Preston, and Georgette Harding, and Viola Wasoski; as well as three great-great-grandchildren, Elias Williams and Carson and Kaden Harding.

Yvonne’s career path included work in the service industry, in office positions with major corporations, as a legal secretary, as a realtor and real estate broker. She spent a great deal of time supporting her loved ones at their events and activities. She enjoyed countless hours playing the family board game Pollyanna and crocheting and knitting the most beautiful gifts, which will be forever treasured.

Preceding her in death were her siblings, Beatrice Mathias (1986), Kenneth L. Hill (1990), Evelyn Silber (1998), Sandy Decker (2000), Ronald Hill (2002), and Bonnie Richardson (2003). A daughter-in-law, Sherry Harding (2020), and grandson-in-law, Warren Williams (2021), also preceded her in death.
